Elowen — Terms of Service
Effective date: 16 July 2026 Provider: Elowen ("we", "us") — an independent app developer based in the United Kingdom. The developer's legal identity is shown as the seller on the App Store listing and is available on request. Contact: elowen.app.official@gmail.com
By downloading or using Elowen (the "App"), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. What Elowen is — and is not
Elowen provides AI-generated devotional content: answers to your daily question grounded in Scripture, quiet reflections and meditations, and bedtime stories for families — alongside fixed devotional material (traditional prayers, Scripture reading, teaching) and a library of Bible stories: retellings of Scripture passages, written and checked by us in advance, illustrated, and recorded as narrated audio with music. The library is the same for everyone — it is streamed from our server, may grow or change over time, and a story may be withdrawn or re-recorded. You acknowledge and agree that:
- Answers are written by artificial intelligence. They are not divine revelation, not the voice of God, and not the teaching authority of any church. They are a devotional aid, offered in a spirit of faith.
- The App complements and never replaces prayer, Scripture, your church, your priest or pastor, and your community.
- The App does not provide medical, psychological, legal, or financial advice. For such matters, consult a qualified professional. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 (US Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or text HOME to 741741, or contact local emergency services.
- AI-generated content can contain errors. Verify Scripture quotations against your own Bible.
- The Bible stories are retellings, not Scripture itself. Each names the passage it is drawn from; the passage is the authority, the retelling is not.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use the App. The Bedtime Stories feature is designed for a parent or guardian to use together with their child, on the adult's device and under the adult's supervision.
3. The daily question
The App is deliberately designed around one question per day. We may enforce this and other fair-use limits technically. Attempting to circumvent usage limits is a breach of these Terms.
4. Your content and generated content
- Your questions remain yours. You grant us a limited license to process the text you submit solely to operate the App (generating your answer or story, including via the service providers named in our Privacy Policy). We do not use your content to train AI models and claim no other rights over it.
- Generated answers and stories are yours to use for personal, non-commercial purposes. We make no claim of copyright over the outputs generated for you.
5. Our intellectual property
The App, its design, name, branding, prompts, software, and the Bible-story library (its texts, recordings, music mixes, and pictures) are our property or licensed to us. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, scrape, resell, or create derivative works from the App or its services, except as permitted by law.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to: use the App for unlawful purposes; attempt to disrupt or overload our services; submit content intended to abuse, harm, or generate harmful content; or misrepresent App outputs as official statements of any church or of God.
7. Subscriptions and purchases
Some features require a paid subscription ("Elowen Premium"), billed through your Apple ID. Prices, and any free-trial period, are shown in the App before purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled in your Apple ID settings at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; any unused free-trial time is forfeited when a purchase completes. Refunds are handled by Apple under their terms. Premium features are subject to the fair-use limits shown in the App (for example, a monthly number of new narrations — replays of what you've already heard stay free). We may change subscription pricing with notice; changes apply from your next renewal.
8. Availability and changes
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We aim for high availability but the App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for decisions you make in reliance on App content. Our total liability for all claims is limited to the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim (or $10 if you paid nothing). Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
10. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time; deleting it removes your on-device data. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes belong to the courts of England and Wales, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms; material changes will be announced in the App. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
